This is a very small ward; its name is a corruption from Basings Haugh, or hall, formerly the principal house in Basingshall-street; it is wholly comprised in the two precincts of Basinghall-street, is governed by an alderman, and returns four members to the court of common council. Its boundaries on the east and south, are Coleman-street ward, on the west, Cripplegate and Cheap wards, and on the north, Cripplegate ward.
